Poem: Wooden Heart

Wooden Heart

Would that my heart was wood!
My heart would smell honey sweet
and scented sawdust fresh
And be filled with
spirals and swirls
and circles
It would have sticky sap for blood
My heart would be coated in gruff bark for protection
Wish my heart was wood
I would mark my years in cirlces
In songs of oak
In dreams of verdant green leaves.

Very nice poem, but not sure I wish that. Just think of poor Pinochio :P

Hey, you poet! Do I wish that my heart was wood? Sometimes I'd be glad if my heart was icy-cold ...

Thanks for the comment! No, I would never wish my heart was ice or stone for that matter. I want to LIVE and FEEL. Even if it means feeling pain then I would rather that then feel nothing :-)

Best Wishes

What a lovely poem...

I've tried to write poetry, but it always ends up sounding forced. I think it's because I'm trying. :)

The idea of smelling honey and sawdust is alluring to me. I imagine it would be very pleasant.
