Blanket of Earth and Sky

Blanket of Earth and Sky

Held on silvered wings we slipped above a blanket of Earth and Sky.

Well... I am back! This photograph is another that I took from an aircraft window on the way to Spain. I so much like the way those mountains wear a cloak of cloud mist and the way the whole of the Earth is spread below.
One thing I find interesting, hav you noticed how many people look at the window when flying? There are actually not many! I am always bouncing to have a window seat! No matter how long the journey, I am always enthralled and enchanted by the magic and beauty of it all. I mean ... WE ARE FLYING! and look how beautiful man magical everything is and yet hardly anybody is looking.
Author Arther C. Clark said something like "When we lose our sense of wonder we are no longer human."

Nice picture. It looks like the world is getting ready to go to bed, covering in a blanket of clouds so it can keep warm..
Lovely as it might be to see that we are flying when one is on a plane, the view would just remind me that at any moment we might be falling instead...

Couldn't agree more with you! I'm always fighting for the window seat! :D How I hated it last summer when the sun was sweetly coming in through the window and the people sitting in my row actually made me close the window because the light was bothering them!

Beautiful picture!! :D

Hay, glad you like it! Well your falling comment is a bit dark but in a positive light we can think that we must live this beautiful moment in case we should fall... ? :-)

Cristina, People are strange, right? And the worst thing is they prefer to watch some crap on a postage stamp size TV????? You are actually FLYING!!!!!! and you are flying over beauitful landscaps and cloudscapes. What is WRONG with you??? What is wrong with people is they are dead in the heart and the soul... Those people wanting you to close the window are stupid. I would have refused. In fact... I have in the past :-D

I certainly should have refused but I guess I was too tired to even discuss it so I just complied... Stupid people, indeed!

This brings to mind the greatest Greek lyric poet doesn't it?

"What is man, what is he not? Man is a shadow of a dream"

That reminds me that I have a 12-hour flight ahead of me next Friday. :-) Hm. Cristina, do you want to fly with me. Because I prefer not sitting at the window. It's NOT because of the light but I'm about 6'1 and prefer having space for my legs ...
You know, you all should fly east, far east, to Sibiria or further away. Becaue you fly into the morning, into the rising sun then. That view is a blast!!! There's nothing better than sitting in an Aeroflot plane with a bottle of Wodka, a hurting back and the rising sun, the sky dived in complete red. I had the window place back then.

Acrix, yeah, camera is for sure someplace that you need to have a camera! For years I didn't have one and I know I missed so many sky shots!

Whisper, thank you for your comment :-)

Borya! You lucky dog! You get to go Mexico soon! Better not forget your camera :-D

.: A :. - Be sure and take your camera next time you are on a plane! Wanna see some sky shots and poetry from an airplane :-)
