Flying

Image hosted by TinyPic.com

"It's easy to fly," he stated with an impish grin and dreams in his eyes.
"...How?"
"Well," he said with a smile, "You just hold out your arms."
"Yes? Go on." She said looking intently at him and licking her lips.
"Gaze into the sky. Don't look at anything else. Everything else is just a dream."
"What's next?"
"You hold out your arms..."
"Yes?"
"And then..."
"You?"
"You RUN till your hearts laughing and all the time keeping your eyes fixed on the sky!"
"That's it? That's flying?"
"Oh yes," he said, "that's flying."

Angel! It's good to hear from you :-)

I hope the surly bonds of earth don't hold you down for too long. I hope those wings of yours feel lighter soon and you feel the air under them as you soar through the air!

Just don't forgot your wings, don't forget you are able to fly! Not ever! Always... see the sky!

May the light keep shining you too... thank you :-)

Been listening to that AI Phoenix song over and over... so thanks for that also :-D

Amazing picture, as usual, Martin. There are a lot of ways to make you feel as flying. Even blogging can be flying.

Wonderful post and picture. Occasionally, I do the same thing just put my arms out, close my eyes and picture a sky such as this and I go flying. It's magical!

Nice view of flying.

On a side note, I can almost hear the rumble in that photograph.

that easy? are you all sure? it reminds me of the harry chapin classic, "taxi":

You see, she was gonna be an actress
And I was gonna learn to fly.
She took off to find the footlights,
And I took off for the sky.
And here, she's acting happy,
Inside her handsome home.
And me, I'm flying in my taxi,
Taking tips, and getting stoned,
I go flying so high, when I'm stoned.

well...everything except the getting stoned part...but you know what i mean.

:A: - can you believe it didn't even rain that day! Was a day of such amazing skies. I was shooting shots all day... expect more :-D

Just me - You made me think! :-) I saw your reply yesterday and had to have a good think about what you have said. ( that's good by the way )

Yes, I do think it's that easy!

Flying is very easy to do. Although, sometimes due to mood or circumstance it's made difficult. I think the effort is worth it.

I don't really see it the same as the "taxi" scene because it's not about "what you do" but how you "Live" Is the actress more happy than the taxi driver? Is the pop star more happy than the road sweeper or office worker? I think a lot of people are not even aware that the sky exists! This, to me, is very amazing! You have this VAST beautiful ever changing canvas and nobody ever looks. Not that many people run for the hell of it...

Maybe it's not always so easy to fly. For me, these days, sometimes it can be very difficult but I think that it's a lore more easy to forget how to fly or never fly at all :-)

Thanks for an interesting comment!

luna, i guess i was thinking more of the difference between expectations and reality. in chapin's song they both got what they set out to get but not in the way they expected to get it.

i think it's the same in your prose: we have a preconceived notion of flying - to be airborn. but flying has all different kinds of meaning, doesn't it? and each can be as rewarding as the other. you have to open your mind & allow all the possibilities to fill you.

the chapin song is one i've heard millions of times and one of those classics that is always with me; perhaps that's why i thought of it. it is definitely not optimistic in the way of your prose and my mood on that day was leaning towards chapin's thoughts. this morning i could find an open field, spread my arms and fly. yes, today i could fly.

"...RUN till your hearts laughing..." that's the important part, isn't it: the laughter. yes, laughing feels like flying.

Must me - Glad to hear that today you COULD fly :-)

Thanks for expanding on what you were meaning for me. It was interesting to read and I agree with you.

You are right, there are so many ways of flying. It's not just being airborne. I wish you many days where you feel you can fly :-)

Paul, thanks for the comment! You obviously never have flown. I have been flying while walking. Especially on an autumn day where the wind tugs at you as it giggles and gushes past you and leaves play at your ankles.

I hope one day you can fly.
